We are passionate about how realtime “thinking with the pen” can facilitate meetings, coaching sessions and problem solving dialogue. In this track we will explore visual facilitating methodologies focusing on the idea of “mapping”. What are our strategies to convert content directly into a two-dimensional landscape of information? What is the magic within the dance between group and visualizer – speaking, listening, understanding, displaying, seeing and reflecting?
Today we focus on the “literal” map and work with the metaphor of cartography. We explore the possibilities of the “topography of ideas”, use a collection of map pictograms symbolically for an extensive tryout in small groups and subsequent reflection. Again, if you want to get infected by the mapping virus, this is the place!
“The world is complex, dynamic, multidimensional; the paper is static, flat. How are we to represent the rich visual world of experience (…) on mere flatland?” (Edward R. Tufte)
